“Caddies and golfers are the ones who will make the future of the sport in the state. Today we have infrastructure but we need golfers to come together and build this further — and we may have Olympic golfers from this region in the future.”
Development of sports in the country is an increasingly important priority. Sports brings wide ranging benefits including improved health & wellbeing, creating livelihood opportunities & contributing to infrastructure development.
Golf's appeal has grown amongst communities with youth taking an active interest. There is much excitement around the game including the Olympics in 2024. This is once again the true demonstration of the potential of the game to bring together diverse communities and build mutual respect and understanding.
The Inter Club Golf Tournament: The BORBHAG Cup is an effort by a dedicated group of golfers in their continued quest to popularise the game in North East India — with the vision of blending heritage with the modern world, augmenting & promoting existing infrastructure; strengthening our traditions & building camaraderie.
“North East has a number of golf courses and there is lot of potential in the region which can grow. I am sanguine that this platform will draw more and more talents from states of the north east and also from other parts of the country.”
“When I was coming on posting in Tezpur, I was looking forward to having a large number of Tournaments. Anirudh has done us a favor by hosting this Tournament in a location like Tezpur and bringing us all together and getting this Tournament going.”
“We have not produced many Golfers from this side, but with the initiatives taken by BORBHAG and other Organisations, we will have many more Golfers from this part of the country.”
“I have always enjoyed Tezpur and I have always enjoyed the Army establishment here — and I can once again congratulate and say that it has been a very good job done today.”
